Why is chucky so scary

It's easy to see why the malevolent doll had such a profound impact on my 5-year-old psyche. I soon began to think that maybe Chucky's existence was retribution for getting in trouble at school or disobeying my parents; I silently vowed to never act out again. That promise didn't last long. Sorry mom! Forget the boogeyman, it was Chucky, a freckled, red-haired doll that was the stuff of nightmares.

Just look at his face! So full of rage and hate. An evil, murderous, violent doll who wanted nothing more but to inhabit the body of little Andy Barclay. He wasn't much older than I was when that movie came out. Perhaps it was the familiarity of Chucky that I found so scary. What little boy didn't want a doll like him? After that day, I never looked at my collection of G.

Joe the same way. All these years later, I still wonder why Child's Play 2 was showing next to whatever family movie my parents took me to see. The teens are mostly cruel but the adults, if not literally slashed by Chucky, are eviscerated as hypocrites and fools.

There is sly humour, silly humour and a serious treatment of how a misunderstood loner such as Jake can be goaded into violence against the community around him.

Courtesy of Showcase. It helps that Chucky is voiced by Brad Dourif, as in the movies, and the figure retains that unnerving tone of malicious wit, sarcasm and, sometimes, wisdom.

It also helps that the excellent cast, mostly Canadian, inhabit with some glee the glorious weirdness of the show. Less famous Canadians stand out, too, including Annie Briggs as the frazzled science teacher Miss Fairchild, and Jana Peck as the school principal trying to handle the mayhem. What they are all on-board with is a unique exercise in fun, horror, sensitivity and buoyant satire.

Welcome back, Chucky , rebooted for the better. A good movie, also includes a famous franchise. This movie delighted me after it came on Netflix. I had high expectations for this movie and they exceeded. Andy Barlcay's actor was extremely talented, and so was everyone else. Surely, this will terrify children, mostly who have dolls and toys. This film will live on forever. I also loved the second movie and bride of chucky, which are great if you enjoyed this film. Its a truly great movie filled with dark comedy from chuck, while also a few nice jumpscares. Take into account that I have always been a massive scared cat and would cry when the Japanese urban legend teke-teke was told to me when I was around 8. This is a great film that I highly recommend watching.

Helped me decide. Had useful details. So funny not that scary besides him killing in weird ways. Teen, 13 years old Written by Chuckydollgamer June 25, This title contains: Positive role models.

Kid, 11 years old June 10, Kid, 12 years old June 13, Not scary, but a super great movie I wanted to see this movie for so long, and my mom finally let me watch it, it was not too scary, it would be good for a beginner though. It was just really interesting, and I got really interested from the beginning to the end, all of the parts that were supposed to be scary were actually really funny.

I loved chucky, he would swear a lot but I really like how real the doll looked when he moved and talked. I recommend this movie, to anyone, I would even consider watching it again.

Kid, 10 years old May 4, No offence to those who love it, but it's super gory and not scary at all! I'll do some ratings out of ten. A hobo tries to rape a woman but gets stopped by a cop.

A woman gets stabbed and a man getsstabbed too and electrocuted. Apart from that, everything's hunky dory. There is only one bar scene. Two people are seen smoking weed at one point. That's basically IT.

Teen, 17 years old Written by horrorhelpkids March 11, Haha this movie not scary lol It's moderately gory but not scary at all. The only two problems is swearing although most language is used by chucky and some violence including: Hammer to the face, attempted sexual assault he is stopped , Voodoo doll broken limbs and knife to the heart, explosions, bullet to the chest, car crash, electrocution and spitting blood and chucky murdered.
