Community Bot 1. I hate to point out, but there's a problem with the 2nd quote in the question's information. Harry isn't Muggle-born. He's a half-blood, as it repeated MANY times within the series.
His mom was a muggle-born witch and his dad was a pure-blood wizard. AnneDoe Agreed. Should've been something like brought up by Muggles? If the vast majority of wizard children are home schooled, then are they effectively kept in isolation until they get their Hogwarts letter, so as to not reveal the existance of the wizarding world to Muggle children they might talk to when not "in school"?
AnneDoe, a moot point. The text your referring to is a quote , and thus, since the quote says "Harry", it should stay as Harry. Show 1 more comment. David Stratton David Stratton That's a really good point about them not being able to fully control their magic. This raises an interesting question about what home schooled wizards are taught.
Well, as a home schooled kid, I can answer that. Get textbooks, read, do homework, end of lesson. Passed ACT in the 99th percentile, and graduated college President's list. So don't knock homeschooling too much. GabeWillard You never took history or science? Those would be Muggle Studies in the wizarding world — Legion Legion - I don't think Muggle Studies is science, even remotely. More likely they've just used primitive experimentation. Failing that, see fanfiction. Show 3 more comments. Given that Mr Weasley commutes daily from Devon to central London instantly, the catchment area for a wizard primary school would be the whole country, so no need for enough wizard families in an area before starting a primary school.
MJ wrote: "In the first book, Harry "mentions" going to school. The Dursleys were preparing Dudley's old sc I would have been the same with muggle borns. I also recall seeing somewhere that children in the wizarding world were either taught at home or went to muggle schools for elementary grades.

So I suppose all the rest do also. Sep 11, PM. I know for a fact that they go to a normal school until they got to Hogwarts. Sep 12, AM. Has anyone ever asked J. K Rowling this?
Gary wrote: Harry attended regular school up to the time he went to Hogwarts. That is briefly mentioned However, JK Rowling did say in interviews that "They [magical children] can either go to a Muggle primary school or they are educated at home.
The Weasleys were taught by Mrs. Yes it seems that she has been asked this question before. When the poster above said it was FACT that they go to normal schools I searched and found several sites that state this: "'Where do wizarding children go to school before Hogwarts? With very young children, as you glimpsed at the wizards' camp before the Quidditch World Cup in 'Goblet of Fire', there is the constant danger that they will use magic, whether inadvertently or deliberately; they cannot be trusted to keep their true abilities hidden.
Even Muggle-borns like Harry attract a certain amount of unwelcome attention at Muggle schools by re-growing their hair overnight and so on. Rowling's Official Site F. Q Rowling's website has been redesigned so this FAQ section is no longer there. Several sites say the same and each gives the same source.
Sep 15, PM. Their reading and writing skills would improve simply by using them, and they don't have much use for subjects like algebra and calculus most muggles don't have much use for these subjects either.
Most muggles are competent at reading, writing and arithmetic by the time they are 11, so it would be the same for wizards. Sep 18, PM. I don't think young wizards go to a normal muggle school to learn reading and math and such. If so, they wouldn't be so ignorant of muggle ways. The idea though that they are all homeschooled seems far fetched to me. Not all families would be able to afford a stay-at-home kind of parent. I would think there must be some primary schools that the kids go to that don't have muggles as students.
Ordinarily I would agree with you, Britney, were it not for the fact that J. Rowling has confirmed otherwise. I imagine she would be the authority on the subject. I know for a fact that Harry went to a muggle school and Ron was home schooled. They didnt really need math and other subjects because they are wizards. What use is comprehension in "avada kavadra"? It is more of will power and that kind of stuff.
I am sure about this, but I think they might just learn even a bit from Hogwarts. As in Astrology class, they learn about the space. If you know what I mean Oct 02, AM. Does Hogwarts have tuition?
